“Itʻs the prettiest side of the island,” she said. “We have the best beaches out here, the best surf and our little Hale‘iwa town is so quaint and cool.”
Dream Come True
“Growing up out here, it was always my dream to own a business in the community I grew up in. I love meeting people from all over the world and welcoming them into my store with aloha,” Cappy said. “Besides chatting with them about the various products I have in the store, I love to give them my recommendations for what I love out here. Besides the best beaches, I like to recommend my favorite restaurants in Hale‘iwa and other cool stores to visit. We all have to support each other!”
The warmth and aloha that she shares gives customers a memorable glimpse of the Hawai‘i we all love.
“Some may say I also have cool products in here, but I think making people feel comfortable and welcome has contributed most to my almost 10 years in business,” Cappy said. “Honestly, just being welcoming and kind to anyone that comes through my doors. I want people to enjoy their experience coming into Number 808!”
Multi-generational Connection to the North Shore
Her love for the North Shore runs in his family, starting with Cappy‘s mom and extending to her children.
“My kids are very into canoe paddling and are happily a part of Manu O Ke Kai Canoe Club. one of the two local canoe clubs out here on the North Shore. We enjoy hanging out at the club hale in between practices and participate in fundraising events quite often,” she said. “My Mom is a part of the Waimea Valley Association, and we sometimes accompany her to clean the beautiful landscape there and pick weeds.”
On the Horizon
What’s next for Cappy? “I’m just grateful for the Hale‘iwa Town Center. Having a storefront here in my hometown is something I appreciate tremendously!” she said. “I want to continue developing my own Number 808 brand into other various products all the while still continuing to seek out other cool and unusual brands.”
